He focuses his veterinary attention on general practice and loves the relationships he has built with people and their pets. His passion for rescue dogs and cats can be highlighted through his time in Chicago working daily with organizations to find homes for pets in need.
Dr. Rice was born in Dearborn, MI and attended Michigan State University for both her undergraduate degree in Microbiology as well as her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Like many veterinarians, Jessica has wanted to become a veterinarian since she was 5 years old. While pursuing her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University she began to consider human medicine rather than veterinary medicine, but upon reflection realized that her true calling was to become a veterinarian. Jessica is astounded daily by the bond she witnesses between an owner and their pet and this provided the driving force for her decision to become a veterinarian. She has a special interest in the management of complex medicine cases, novel rehabilitation techniques such as laser therapy, as well as behavioral medicine.
Jessica has a 4 year old son named Isak who is currently obsessed with playing the “the guess who I am game?” to which the answer is always Batman. In her free time she loves to take Isak to the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing to see his favorite animal– tigers. Outside of work and family life, Jessica enjoys traveling to exotic countries with her most memorable experience being in Tanzania where she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro.
